Welcome to Betty's Bed and Breakfast in Salem, Oregon
A beautifully restored Craftsman home -- The Oaks is located in the heart of Salem, near the state capitol buildings and our historic downtown area. The ambiance of this 1922 home will transport you to the nostalgia of a simpler time, as well as being a wonderful example of the architecture of the Arts & Crafts period.
This charming home's atmosphere is enriched and enhanced by the tastefully beautiful antiques throughout. You will definitely feel as if you have stepped back in time when you sleep between sun-drenched, line-dried sheets and wake up to a home-made breakfast -- complete with fresh produce from my garden or the nearby farmer’s market, served in the inviting sun-porch, or in the gracious dining room.
A stroll along Mill Creek and on into Historic Downtown Salem will certainly complete your journey into the past. With its eclectic mix of architecture, downtown Salem is laid out in a modest-sized grid of streets with buildings and businesses that are easy to browse and enjoy.
The Willamette Valley areas and small historic towns around Salem offer opportunities for many relaxing and pleasurable jaunts and day trips. Whether its shopping, gaming, enjoying wine tours and beautiful Oregon scenery or other activities, these destinations are only from 20 minutes to an hour away from the B and B.
Hospitality and Food
Good food and gracious
hospitality are traditions I was raised with and have always valued. It’s
my goal and pleasure to provide these to my B & B guests. I
had the opportunity to be exposed to southern and mid-western cooking which encompasses the traditions and
recipes from the Pennsylvania-Dutch, Bohemian,
Scandinavian, Dutch and Pacific Northwest cooking styles.
All of these cooking traditions I use are largely based on an abundance of fresh produce from the
Willamette Valley and seafood from the Oregon Coast.
